Colorado State University Biomedical Sciences

The Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMS) seeks to fill two tenure-track or tenured positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Preference will be given to candidates with a research program in an area of integrative/systems neuroscience that compliments existing programs within the department and university. Departmental strengths span from ion channels and synaptic and neural circuit physiology to behavioral studies in hormonal and homeostatic systems as well as neurological disease. Expanding areas on campus include biomedical engineering, neurobiology of aging and clinical neurology. Many neuroscience faculty members participate in a University Program of Research and Scholarly Excellence in Molecular, Cellular and Integrative Neurosciences (MCIN) (http://mcin.colostate.edu/). The successful candidate is expected to maintain an independent, extramurally-funded research program and participate in the Departmental teaching mission. Opportunities for collaboration exist with faculty in multiple basic science and engineering departments across campus including those associated with the veterinary teaching hospital.

The individual selected for this position will be expected to teach within the undergraduate, graduate and/or the doctor of veterinary medicine (DVM) programs. Teaching responsibilities will be in the general area of physiology or pharmacology. The Department sponsors undergraduate majors in Biomedical Sciences and Neuroscience and both MS and PhD graduate programs. Required Job Qualifications:

Applicants must have PhD or equivalent and postdoctoral experience in integrative/systems neuroscience.

Preferred Job Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants with a strong publication record and evidence of competitiveness for independent national-level funding for research in integrative/systems neuroscience.

The ideal candidate will have a research program that spans from molecules to behavior and compliments existing strengths in the Department of Biomedical Sciences.
